Do the thing that makes you come alive

Lets face it , this world is a tough place to live in sometimes. Sure, there's beauty , but there is also pain, adversity and just plain plodding forward when we feel like giving up. Its easy to grow weary, get fed up and just simply go through the motions of our day to day life. If we are not careful, we can fill our days up with 'must dos' rather than 'I want to's'. I'm speaking from experience here! One day I was sharing with a friend about my daily routine ( this was in a particular stressful season of my life ) and she shared with me very simply ' you need to do more right side brain activities'. I stopped in my tracks. She was so right! My life had become a series of boring to do lists that did not spark any creativity, passion or excitement in me at all.
This statement really got me thinking. My to do list was looking suitably boring and drab. There were things I needed to do, but that's what my list was all about . No fun in there :( Some examples of right brain activities are - music, art, cooking and puzzles and dancing. For me , its also fashion ( I adore fashion so much ) , beauty, skincare routines and connecting on a deep level with others. These kind of activities help stimulate creativity , imagination and intuitive thinking.
This is what I needed in my daily live, and what I have found is by incorporating some of these activities in my daily routine is that I am more productive , and my nervous system is more regulated. So if you have a deadline looming, or you are going through a stressful time, please do not forget to add these activities on to your to do list. Although you may feel like you don't have enough time , you will find yourself enjoying your routine and getting far more done as a result.
